Who We Are

About Us

MEDIKO, P.C. was founded in 1996 by a physician, Dr. Ofogh, in response to the challenges of providing cost effective medical services in correctional facilities. With customized solutions, a commitment to clinical competence and quality service, MEDIKO has over a decade of demonstrated success and effective partnership with our clients.

Building upon the demonstrated success of our innovative clinical solutions, Dr.Ofogh has identified the need for these creative options in other venues. New frontiers include the expansion of telemedicine to meet the needs of underserved populations.

Dr. Ofogh

While practicing as an Attending Physician in the Emergency Room at the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Ofogh was approached to do some part time work in a correctional facility. After experiencing the challenge and reward of providing quality care in this environment, Dr. Ofogh committed his career to developing effective solutions to the challenges encountered by corrections leaders in their efforts to provide cost effective quality care for inmates.

In 1996 he formed a professional corporation, MEDIKO, P.C. designed to deliver high quality, cost-effective Health Care Services for populations of correctional institutions in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Onsite Primary Care Physicians, and Telepsychiatry program are most common services provided to correctional facilities and other clients. His success in this venture is demonstrated by continued growth and expansion of the company.

  • Proven track record in the design and delivery of efficient and cost effective medical services to inmates without sacrificing quality. Many facilities have experienced dramatic reductions in medical operating costs.
  • Demonstrated success in the recruitment and retention of correctional medicine physicians, psychiatrist, dentists and other medical personnel in urban and remote locations.
  • Provided clinical service guidelines, workflow documents and formulary structure customized to client specific needs.

He is an active contributor and speaker for the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC), the American Jail Association (AJA), the Virginia Association of Regional Jails (VARJ), the Virginia Compensation Board as well as other state and regional sheriff and jail organizations.
